Fish need to
be able to breathe. Active fish usually require more oxygen than
inactive fish. Salmon and trout are very active and are constantly
swimming. As a result, they require more oxygen than other species.
Oxygen dissolves
into moving water ("lotic") more readily than it dissolves into nonmoving
(standing) water. If you are fishing a lake, look for inflowing
streams or springs. If you find a spring or inflowing stream,
fish it first as it will supply both oxygen and food to the fish
waiting below.
